Keeping Cool: Pup-Sicles for your Dog

SitStay Keeping Cool: Pup-Sicles for your Dog

Summer brings warmer weather's and dogs, like humans, love a frozen treat to cool down.  Try some of these great pup-sicle recipes this summer!

Peanut Butter Pup-sicles

  • 1 C. unsalted and unsweetened peanut butter
  • Water as needed (helps with freezing consistency)

Combine ingredients together.  Line a cookie sheet with wax paper and spoon the mixture like you would cookie dough. Freeze for at least 2 hours.  Store in a baggie if needed.

Fruit Pup-sicles

  • ½ cup of strawberries
  • 4 cups of pineapple juice
  • ½ cup of yogurt

Puree ingredients together in a blender and pour into Popsicle mold or ice-cube tray.  Freeze for at least 2 hours.  Store in a baggie if needed.

Try substituting other fruits and juices

  • 1 banana, blueberries, peaches, watermelon
  • Apple juice, orange juice, water

Chicken Pup-sicles

  • 1 cup of low sodium chicken broth (you can substitute with beef broth)
  • ½ cup of water
  • Optional: 1 ½ ounce of finely chopped chicken or beef to the mixture.

Combine ingredients together and pour into Popsicle mold or ice-cube tray.  Freeze for at least 2 hours.  Store in a baggie if needed.

Coconut Pup-sicles

  • 1 cup of coconut juice
  • 1 piece of finely chopped coconut meat

Pour coconut oil into Popsicle mold or ice-cube tray and sprinkle some of the coconut meat on each piece.  Freeze for at least 2 hours.  Store in a baggie if needed.
