The very best way to get your dog to stop barking when you don't want him to is to understand why your dog is barking and then work with your dog in person. Putting a no bark collar on a dog and then leaving him without supervision is not a good thing, we recommend against doing that. The SpraySense Citronella Anti-Bark Collar has patented technology and delivers a burst of citronella spray that distracts the dog to interrupt barking. The spray works with four of the dog's five senses - he hears it, sees it, feels it and smells it. Citronella is a scent that most dogs don't normally encounter. It's not offensive to most humans, yet is "unusual" enough to distract a dog.

SpraySense vs. Shock Collars or Ultrasonic Collars: Shock collars attempt to reduce barking with pain. In addition to not being an effective training method, pain will increase anxiety and aggression (I know it does with me) and can make behavior problems worse. Please never use a shock collar on your dog, it hurts and can make your dog fearful. Ultrasonic collars are reported to us not to work, we say don't waste your money on them.

The SpraySense Citronella Anti-Bark Collar can be used with any breed of dog that weighs 6 pounds or more and is at least 6 months old. The collar weighs about 7 ounces, including the battery and loaded spray device. The actual spray device is 1.9 x 1.3 x 1.4 inches and weighs just 2 ounces. This Citronella Collar is not recommended for anxiety related barking. And one more time; training in person, you and your dog working together, is the better solution and it's much faster.

Why do we carry this collar if we're not 100% recommending it? Because there are people who want the "quick" fix for their dogs and it's head and shoulders better and safer than a shock collar or ultrasonic collar. If I was your dog, I'd rather you understand why I'm barking, then teach me when you don't want me to bark or if you absolutely have to, spray me a little bit and hope I get it, than to shock me or hurt my ears. We want dogs to be safer and trained without harm. That's why we carry this collar. It gives you a better choice.
