- Slows down dogs that eat too quickly
- Works with all foods and water
- Dishwasher and microwave safe, durable polypropylene
- No-tip, no-skid bottom
- Convenient "hand grips" on bottom
- 10.7 inch diameter, 6 cup capacity
Does your dog gulp its food? It's a very common problem and can contribute to health issues such as Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus (GDV)....also known as "bloat,". Slower eating reduces the risk of such problems and also makes your animal feel more full. The Eat Slow Bowl is a simple and effective solution for this problem. These heavy duty, durable polypropylene bowls are equipped with six smooth, molded protrusions....each about two inches across and just over an inch high. These protrusions impede "instant access" to food causing your dog to slow down. Eat Slow Bowls work well with both kibble and canned foods. One size fits all....bowls are 10.7 inches in diameter and can accommodate up to 6 cups of food. The bowls have convenient hand grips on the bottom....no more fumbling to pick it up off the floor! No-tip, no skid bottom keeps the bowl in place. The Eat Slow Bowl is FDA compliant for food contact with plastic and BPA-free. Dishwasher and microwave safe. Brand: Greedy Pup Made in China

Great for Gobblers
Date: August 19, 2010 |
I would recommend this to a friend
Our Brittany has been a gobbler since day one. We used to put a large rock in her dish but purchased this bowl instead. It has slowed her down significantly, is made out of sturdy stuff, and we wish we had bought it sooner. It is pricey but worth it!

This bowl saved our Rottie!

We recently adopted a 3 year old Rottweiler (who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty :) ) and on her first night with us we were HORRIFIED at how quickly she gulped down her dinner. We have owned a couple other Rotties and a few other dogs and have never seen a dog eat so fast. We knew we had to do something or she would be susceptible to bloat, not to mention other undesirable outcomes (read: gas) from chowing down like that.
We tried another device that was supposed to sit in the middle of a regular bowl attached with a suction cup, but it couldn't hold up to her forceful head-butting. So I knew we had to go with a bowl of this style. I looked at several different types and this one by far was the most appealing, plus it was being offered here on my favorite dog supply website for a great price! It is of a substantial weight, good quality, and not bad looking. The grip cutouts on the bottom are very helpful. We've put it through the dishwasher a few times and it still looks like new. My only comment is that I don't know how the manufacturer can claim that this dish holds 6 cups... we put 3 (heaping) cups of kibble in the bowl and it's nearly full. I can't picture another 2-ish cups on top of that.
This bowl definitely works for our girl, although I would warn other buyers that the kibble that is above the bumps will still get gulped; it's the 2 cups that fall around the bumps that will be eaten more slowly. Overall I highly recommend this bowl for any dog who needs to slow down.

Great Product

I would recommend this to a friend
Purchased two bowls as I have 2 GSD's that were competing to see who could finish dinner first. This has slowed them down considerably and I am quite pleased with the bowl. However, I prefer to feed my dogs from an elevated stand and there is no stand that I have found that would accommodate the bowls. Resorted to building our own. The bowls themselves are great.

Best Purchase Ever!!!

This bowl will save me a fortune in vet bills and my dog won't have acid and gas! Sorry, but it's true. My dog has gobbled her food since she learned to eat solids. No food aggression - just vacuum mouth. With this bowl she has to eat slowly, chew and digest her food, and enjoy what she used to swallow whole. She's only a 22 lb. mix breed and eats 1/4 cup 3 times a day. I was afraid the bowl would be too big, but it is PERFECT!
Thank you for the online help Missy gave me when I was deciding what to buy.

I have one oldy that eats slow and another young ChowHound that eats fast...I tried the large bowl on ChowHound and now HE is the SLOW eater..its big...(and my dog is about the size of a cocker spaniel..but I'd recommend it to anyone that wants their dog to ..spend more time eating (instead of wolfing down food and asking for more)
I don't give it 5 stars because I prefer eating dishes to be metal, this is really slick plastic

Helped, but...

Yes, it slowed our six month Golden Retriever from just over a minute to about two and a half minutes the first time. Since then I figured out that maxing out his cup and a half serving into his old puppy bowl worked just as well. The smaller bowl worked for a friend, too (and helped with the flatulance). So, my advice is to try a small, deep bowl before investing in a bowl like this.
