Sudden changes in diet can sometimes result in digestive disturbances. Do not overfeed regardless of the pet’s acceptance and eagerness. Overfeeding is the most common cause of digestive upset. Always introduce any new diet over a period of days mixing with the present diet. Always keep fresh water available at all times and offer plenty of exercise.

Amount of food your dog requires will depend on activity, age, environment, and breed. Feed at room temperature and refrigerate unused portion. Always provide access to clean fresh water. Adult: Feed 2 to 2-3/4 of 5.5 oz. cans, or 3/4 to 1-1/4 of 13.2 oz. cans, per 15 lbs. of body weight per day. Puppy: Feed up to twice the adult amount to puppies. Gestation & Lactation: Feed up to three times the normal adult amount.

Our Commitment to Quality

We want to reassure you that your pet's health and safety has and always will be our top priority.  Our quality control and quality assurance programs include but are not limited to: Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), a Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) program, regular lot segregation, and other industry best practices. Our manufacturing facility also adheres to these specific quality measures:

  • Our ingredients are sourced from USDA inspected facilities, and/or facilities regulated by the FDA
  • We adhere to state and federal regulations regarding product safety
  • Our manufacturing facility is regularly monitored by third party auditors
  • Our manufacturing facility is a USDA Certified Organic Processing Facility and adheres to USDA and EU standards

In addition to the industry best practices listed above, and in an abundance of caution, we’re taking additional steps in our manufacturing process to ensure that our products are free of all pathogenic bacteria. All Nature’s Variety raw frozen products will now undergo a “test and hold” period before being released for sale.

As always, Nature’s Variety is fully committed to maintaining the highest quality standards in the pet food industry.  Thank you for your continued trust in Nature’s Variety.

Dogs love it Date: March 1, 2010
I would recommend this to a friend

Have been using this flavor, along with Vension, and Duck for 3 yrs now. Went to Holistic Vet and Nutrionalist, they recommend it along with raw vegetables and cooked brown rice. My Airedales have no skin problems and the vitality of a puppy. I feel good that I am giving them the best.

Rabbit is PORK Date: November 10, 2010
i ordered cases of most-expensive food, rabbit instinct cans, as usual for 2 cats with food allergies. with new order, both of my cats stopped eating the rabbit. now i have several cans cannot use. i could not figure out why. now i have another problem with NV food and finally found the web NV news, under the uninformative title "Instinct Exotic Cans" 4-1-09: Nature’s Variety would like to inform you of an upcoming change in our exotic Instinct cans for dogs and cats. Unfortunately we are no longer able to source sufficient supplies of "rabbit liver" and "venison liver." After researching viable alternatives, the Rabbit and Venison Formulas will now include natural "pork liver" as the second ingredient. a few years ago, i had all 3 animals on raw frozen NV, rabbit for 2 cats. suddenly, cat Tor stopped eating the raw rabbit. it took over week to figure out that the new bag of rabbit had PORK organs in it. my cat Tor would not even touch the raw rabbit . i talked with NV and urged them to NOT add pork to the cans or any other product. i and others rely on single-protein source for allergies. also, despite my having signed up on their website for info a few years ago, i never got any of these news updates in email or mail. the grain-free was great food, but very disappointed in NV's decision and poor exchange of info to customers, and now i cannot use their food.
