We love to wear fleece when it's blustery and cold outside, so will your dog. Collar-to-tail hook/loop closure along the back makes the Fido Fleece easy to put on and take off. Covers, warms and protects the underside of your dog, plenty of room down there for the guys, too. Your dog will be stylin' in a Fido Fleece Coat. These jackets are not designed for the rough brush encountered in hunting.

Measuring Your Dog Requires Two Measurements
  1. Length from collar to base of tail. This measurement lets you know how the coat will fit the length of your dog but is not used to determine the size. The girth should be used to determine the proper size.
  2. Distance around the girth, just behind the front legs. Your dog should be standing square, as shown in picture to the right, not sitting or slouching. We don't carry jackets for broad chested, short bodied dogs.
  3. If you get an odd number for a measurement, we suggest that you round up to the next even numbered size if your dog is big boned (or a little thick) and round down to the next even numbered size if your dog is slimmer.

    Please keep in mind that the girth measurement is the most important for a proper fit. Most (but not all) dogs can be fit using this sizing method.
The manufacturer changes their sizing every year. If you are ordering a new jacket, please don't go by the size of an old jacket you might have. Re-measure your dog and use this table to determine the best size for your dog.

All dogs are different and just like people, finding a coat or a pair of shoes by size and measurement sometimes does not insure a good fit. The chart below is a good indicator of a good fit but these coats may not fit all dogs. If you order a coat and it does not fit your dog exactly, please keep it clean and return it for a refund. Cute but doesn't fit! Date: November 23, 2011
I ordered this coat last year (my review disappeared)for my Standard Poodle. He's slim (41 lbs), 24" withers, 28" girth, and back 23". I ordered by the girth size but the jacket was very tight and the leg openings wouldn't pull up to where the legs join the chest. Customer service felt the next size would fit. However, it had the same issue. Standard Poodle have skinny legs and the opening shouldn't have been a problem. Be careful ordering this product. I had to pay to ship both jackets back.

Our Scottie looks paticularly handsome in his Macdawg Plaid Fleece. He's a blond scottie so the red was a good choice for him. We also like the ease of putting it on. Velcro on the back is a brilliant idea.

I own 2 Fido Fleece coats that I bought many years ago for my first Boxer. they fit her beautifully! So, I thought I would get my new guy, also a Boxer, 2 new coats of his own. I ordered a 20 and a 22. I like to have 2 sizes, so we can layer when it's really cold outside. I did measure carefully; but the 20 is really tight around the girth and legs, so I had high hopes that the 22 would be perfect. Well, it was almost tighter than the 20. I held the 20 up to the 22 to compare them, and the necks are exactly the same width - they both pull through the chest and the legs are tight. This product has really changed since I bought my first ones many (6 or 7?) years ago. I should have not gotten sucked into the sale price, and just have gone somewhere locally where I could have tried them on and not paid for shipping. All that being said, I still love the concept of the Fido Fleece coats. I think it's great that they cover the belly so well. And they used to be cut deeper in the chest - perfect for a Boxer!
